Height Rule & Guidelines
1. All hounds will be measured in a normal relaxed posture. They will not be posed in show stance or with legs stretched out. Front legs must be vertical. Back legs may be slightly pointing backwards.
2. Hounds will be measured over their shoulder blades with a common measuring device. The shoulder blades may touch the device but must not lift it off floor.
3. All placing hounds must be measured.
4. All placing hounds must meet the height standard to qualify for awards and points. Hound owner is responsible for requesting a measurement of his/her hound before a trial. Hound owner must use his/her own judgement for entering the hound. All hounds will be allowed to compete but must meet height standard if they place.
5. The President or designees will measure placing hounds immediately after awards ceremony.
6. Hound owners will not cast vote in a measurement regardless of his/her status with the association.
Note:
The above guidelines may appear rigid but the issue of hounds competing illegally is considered by many as a very urgent problem in most associations. Our goal is to run hounds that fit within the height guidelines.
